Safeguarding and Wellbeing Champion
What do you do in the business?
As a Curriculum Development Lead, I am responsible for overseeing the development and quality of our Early Years and Education standards. My role is multifaceted and includes internal quality assurance, resource creation, and the continuous improvement of our curriculum to ensure it remains engaging, inclusive, and aligned with industry expectations. I work closely with a team of assessors, providing support through regular standardisation meetings, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. This collaborative approach ensures consistency in assessment practices and helps maintain high standards across the board. Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that every learner receives a rich and rewarding educational experience that equips them with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their chosen career paths.
What’s your background?
My journey began in early years education, where I developed a strong foundation in child development and learning. After leaving school, I entered the sector and gained hands-on experience in various roles, including working as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). This role gave me the opportunity to support children with a wide range of additional needs, deepening my understanding of inclusive education and the importance of tailored support. Throughout my early career, I was guided by several assessors, but one in particular stood out for their professionalism and encouragement — their influence inspired me to pursue a career in assessment once I had built up my own experience. I have now worked in the training and education industry for 17 years, with over a decade spent at CT Skills. During this time, I have progressed from internal quality assurance to leading curriculum development, with a particular focus on creating visually engaging, learner-friendly resources for our apprentices. I have also undertaken numerous qualifications to enhance my own knowledge and skills, which have been instrumental in supporting my career development and enabling me to contribute meaningfully to the sector.
